Biology, Business, and Service
Our organization intends to target the underprivileged youth in the encompassing Berkeley area to promote advancement into further education and industry, including biotech, consulting, healthcare administration, and medicine. We will provide resources to high school students by promoting professionalism and educational goals in both business and biotech.

Our Mission
Bio-Business Initiative’s mission is to serve the underprivileged high schoolers in the Contra Costa School District, encompassing 19 East Bay cities, by:
- Recruiting high-achieving and dedicated UC Berkeley students who are committed to fostering long-lasting and education-driven relationships with their high school mentees.
- Providing low-income high school students with encouragement to build strong academic values and self-confidence through classroom and after-school activities.
- Focusing on improving GPA, test scores, overall college applications, and providing an introduction to the bio-business sector through mentors tailoring their one-on-one weekly sessions to meet the academic needs and interests of their mentees.
- Enabling UC Berkeley students to acquire leadership skills and life-enhancing experiences that cannot be learned in the classroom, but are solely gained through real-life relationships.
- Offering four $1000 scholarships to low-income high achieving high school students who have shown their dedication to and passion for pursuing a higher education in bio-business related fields.

Outreach Committee
Our committee is dedicated to planning, preparing, and executing both on-site and online events at our current high school Richmond High. We provide online guest speaking seminars, professional development workshops, scholarships, and mentorship to our high school students.

BBI Consulting provides consulting services as a means to broaden the network and expand the capabilities of the larger Bio-Business Initiative. Our consultants are provided top notch training in order to generate nuanced solutions to real-world problems.

Finance Committee
Our committee is always finding new ways of raising funds. Due to COVID-19, our original strategy of reaching out to corporate donors is no longer an option due to the current economic downfall. We are developing investment portfolios and exploring grant writing in order to raise our committees’ budgets.
